So i wanna got get an SSD this weekend and i was thinking about how to set this up.

1 256GB for OS and programs
or
2 drives, 64GB for OS and a 128GB for programs

What would be the draw backs and positives of these 2 setups and which would be more optimal?

Agreed, unless you have dual bays and run one small ssd and one large spinning disc I don't see the benefit in 2 different sized ssds.

256 should be your best bet.

I found with my systems that 128GB will run the OS and quite few programs, however, I just moved them up to 256GB to have greater headroom.
Unless you were planning to Raid 2 smaller SSD's, I can see no performance benefit over a single 256GB SSD.

As the others said - a single 256GB is your optimal solution.
