Questions about partition and SATA raid..

I have a 120gb IDE HDD with 4 partitions, and windows is installed in one partition. The other partitions are just for data storage. The partition was done by partition magic.

Here comes the question - if i only change my mobo and use the same drive, will the OS be able to recognize the partitions? (I'm planning to format the partition where the OS is installed and reinstall the OS)

Also.. I have two extra SATA hard drives with the same brand and specs. I was planning to set them up as RAID0 but i noticed that many people were skeptical about performance in small-size file transfers. My computer is mainly for gaming. Should i go for raid or just have them as 2 drives?

i'd be glad to hear any suggestions.. :)
 
the partitions should be recognized
though you might have to disable simple file sharing and take ownership of files and folders from the new administrative account to access them
(NTFS permissions)

but make sure they are Primary Partitions
if they are logical drives in an extended partition and you delete the Primary they are an extention of, youll break the chain of pointers to them

as far as RAID0
your games will load faster
beyond that opinions differ quite a bit
a large portion of that being tweaking the array, the actual implementation of the controller and drives, and the "typical" access pattern

as a note, best to make and format partitions from Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc)
resize and move em from Partition Magic but PM offers few advantages in the formatting or creation of partitions (you can set clutser size in Disk Management as well when formatting), you might also want to try diskpart.exe when you get a chance the Windows commandline tool it offers a few tricks ;)
but practice on something non-critical
