Questions about multiple Cpu's/Folding

I am intrigued about using the new Quad core processors for folding. I am looking to run 4 instances on 1 computer deticated to folding.
Here's the Questions:
When I get the Quad processor, I will combine it with a 965 chipset and oc it to 335 fsb and run Ddr 675 (4x512).
How would this compare to a (2 x dc) server with the same ram?
I want to ramp up and achieve 10Wu /day. Currently I'm at 2wu/day and I'm looking for a 939 board to get a sempron up and folding using foldix. This would be changed to a 4600 X2 within a few months
 
With Intels, 1x4 cores should be just about as fast as 2x2. They're all sharing the same memory bus. With AMD, there is a performance difference in some things with 2x2 versus 1x4, because there's two memory busses, but not in FAH IIRC.

2x1024 will probably give you slightly better memory speed than 4x512. ISTRC there's some slow-down with 4 sticks as opposed to 2. I could be wrong, though - I don't pay much attention to memory. :eek:

 
If Lunux is an option for you, you might give the SMP client a try. Even with only 2 dual core AMD machines they are putting out over 1200 PPD between them.

The actual client is designed for 4 cores, you just might be supprised.

The quad core should perform close to a pair of woodcrests, especially when overclocked like your planning. The xeons have the advantage of being faster stock and dual front side bussed with quad channel memory. Definitely gives them an advantage stock for stock. Plus you can always drop in two quad cores down the road...

I recall that for the Nforce4 chipset, that generally 4 sticks forced the memory controller to switch to 2T command rate vs 1T. I also recall that there was about a 3% lowering of performance because of this. I also recall that this happened typically with double-sided memory sticks and that if you could find single-sided sticks it was less of an issue.
