Hi,


I'm going to buy Logitech G930, but I don't have audio card and some peoples saying, that without any or good audio card, you couldn't get maximum audio quality of these headsets, is this true or not? And I'm going to buy these headsets, just because the're wireless and I hate when my headset wire is stuck somwhere, so I'm going to buy these, but isn't there any problem for these headsets or errors and etc., because I read one post here and it says, that microphone is bad, it doesn't cancel voice that you don't need, like mouse clicks and even in some games it even doesn't show that he've mic, is it true or not? Guys, I want honest answers, thanks.
 
The G930 has it's own sound card, which is why is uses a USB connection. All headsets with USB connections use their own audio processing, and that's a + if you don't have a sound card. If you do have a sound card it's a - because you can't make use of what you paid for.

I suggest Googleing some reviews for the G930, there are a bunch. I read a review that had a glowing statement for the G35, the G930's wired brother. The reviewer said the G35's noise-canceling mic is so good, it filtered out loud music that was playing only two feet away from the headset. So if mic quality if what you're looking for, it won't disappoint.
 
One thing I can say for sure: the people who say you need a good sound card for the G930s are absolutely clueless.

The G930 is an updated wireless version of the G35. Both headsets are USB-only, and bypass any sound card you might have. I do not know whether there is an actual sound chip somewhere in the headset or if the drivers do all the sound processing, but the net effect for you is you get Dolby Headphone and pretty good gaming sound even without any other sound card in your machine.

The downside is that Logitech has had a bit of quality control issues and driver problems with G35s and then these. I do not know whether they are now actually fixed (I gave up and returned my second set of G35s a while ago) but I do know there are new drivers out that should fix the memory leak/crashing issues they had.
 
And what about G930 issues? A lot of posts on Logitech forum says, that these headsets has a lot of issues/problems and its mic is bad :confused: But in the reviews it says, that wow, these headets are great, great audio, great mic and etc. So how is it? :confused: And if there issues, is it going to be fixed with drivers or is it imposible to fix it?
 
The mics on the G35s I had were fantastic. Audio was also fantastic - when it worked.

These were my complaints:
1. First set had a high-pitched whine in the right ear when any program using the microphone was active.
2. Second set worked perfectly on 32-bit XP. On 64-bit 7, however, it suffered from memory leaks in BFBC2 leading to game crashes and BSODs.
3. If I recall correctly, the memory leak thread on Logitech's support forum existed for 9 months before Logitech even acknowledged the problem. When they released beta versions of the new drivers the previous version was roughly one year old.

I don't mind mistakes as long as they're being fixed. But I'm never buying Logitech audio products again after this - and I'm a bit of a fanboy.
 
In that case, what headsets do you reccomend for gaming? :) It would be good if it would be wireless, unless you definetely know that wired is better than wireless and unless you have arguments why. Thanks.
 
Well, if wireless is very important to you - and you buy from somewhere with a decent return policy - the G930s might be your best bet. Logitech is now aware of the driver issues, and have been working on them.

Personally if I were getting a (wired) USB gaming headset in this price range, I'd take my chances on the Corsair HS1. Like the Logitechs they have a built-in sound card and Dolby Headphone, and they have gotten very good reviews here on the forum.

My personal favorite for gaming is the Asus Xonar Essence ST card paired with a Sennheiser PC360 headset, but they cost a lot more. And to be honest, when they worked the G35s didn't sound all that worse under fire in Bad Company 2. :)
 
Thanks, I'll think about it. Any other suggestions, which is the best headsets from logitech and wich is the best from razer?

Edit: Which is better? Corsair HS1, Steelseries 7H or maybe one of the other products from Razer?

i own the g930s i bought them a little over a week ago and they sound great, but i dislike the power button.
you have to hold it for 3 sec to turn on a 5 sec to turn off....

it is annoying.

also if you are using the mic to record yourself but not sending that sound back over the speaker the headset will turn off after 10mins of no sound.... non-adjustable.

they fit nicely and the mic is good quality.

cannot comment on how they hold up to longterm use since i have had them a week

oh also you have to unplug the dongle in order for your speakers to turn back on automatically, otherwise you need to manually select your speaker in the audio mixer...


annoying as well
 
I just got a pair of 930s and I love them. I can't really speak about other expensive headsets as this is my first pair, all my other headsets have been sub 20$ buys. The mic quality is good and sound quality is better than I expected. What really amazed me was the range, I was getting sound from around 40 or 50 feet out
 
Yup they are pretty good. The annoying part though is that they creak...moving them makes a creaking noise. I think that's the best word I can come up with right now. The plastic just makes noise as you move them.
 
I've owned the G930 for a few months now. They are pretty good. very low freq for explosions and such sound kinda crappy though. Also if you have a fat head like i do and wear glasses they do tend to hurt after a lil while. I'm about to move into a new home and probably only going to use these if i need to use vent / mumble / ts etc.
 
I had these for about 8 months, after around 3 months though the charging cable had trouble staying plugged into the headset. The female connector inside the headset and become bent out of shape. I took a needle-nose pliers and gently bent it back into to shape. The cable fit snuggly for the next 4 months. Then a month later they just stopped charging won't even turn on anymore. I know the connector being bent is partly my fault as I've stepped on the cable a few times getting out of my chair ripping the cable out of the socket.
 
I bought a set. If you're running Win7 or Vista, make sure you set the software to run as admin or it might run like crap.

They seem to have a lot of issues with connectivity. Logitech seems to try and blame it on other wireless items running in the vicinity of the headset, but enough people have posted that they have no other wireless items and still experience the problem.

Basically, the headset keeps disconnecting/reconnecting regardless of how close the transceiver unit is to the headset. Sometimes it's once every few minutes sometimes it's 10 times in a minute. It's incredibly annoying. I sent the set back to Newegg for a replacement. I talked to Logitech as well, they think it's a defective unit and were willing to replace it but they didn't have any in stock.

My concern is there are a lot of posts on Logitech's forums where people are on their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th set and are all having the exact same problems.

I asked Logitech if I keep having the problem say, after the Newegg return period is up, would they issue me a refund, they claim they would do so. So I am waiting on my 2nd set from Newegg. I should get them next week. I hope they work this time.

When they do work, the sound is great. If you're a purist audiophile that's big into music, you probably won't be thrilled. For gaming, the sound is awesome. Music and video sound is fine. I feel like I am listening to my 7.1 speaker set up as opposed to wearing headphones. It trips me out but I like it.

They are very comfortable too. The charge lasts quite a long time which is very nice. The mic quality is fine, I haven't had anyone complain about it. The voice changing thing is kind of funny. I got them for $89 with free shipping, so it will be a great deal if my next set actually works.
