Okay I know there is no such thing as FSB anymore as that has been replaced by the HT Link speed which is double pumped or something.

What i am wondering about is the bios setting 'bus speed', does it only serve a purpose like the multiplier now?

For example in cpu-z my settings are for my athlon x2 6400 be:

core speed: 3500 Mhz
Multiplier: x 14
HT Link: 1000Mhz
Bus speed: 250 Mhz <--------- Is there any benefit having a higher bus speed or is it just a means to set the core speed, ht link and memory frequency?

the bus speed is the base clock for everything else. there's no benefit to it being higher at all, it's all dependent on the final speed of the cpu, memory and ht link, listed in order of importance ;)

A very good one at that. CF's guide is what finally got me to wrap my head around the whole memory divider thing. :)

thanks alot for the information, my cpu isn't stable at 3.5ghz Q_Q

as soon as it gets to 58 degress celcius orthos halts

Thats a touch too warm for comfort. What voltage are you running at and what type of cooler?
