I am about to order a Barton mobile from newegg hoping to get over 2.5 ghz.

What I want to know is if the 2600, 2500 and 2400 are any different when it comes to overclocking? Does the 2600 go higher than a 2400?

Is there any specific stepping that makes the chip better?

there shouldn't be much difference, but the 2600 is supposed to start out as a better quality chip, as some people with 2400s seem to hit a wall around 2.5ghz.

I have a 2600, and run 2.53ghz daily, prime stable, air cooling, without a hitch.

I can run 2.64ghz fine in windows, and benchmarks, but it takes some more voltage. 2.7 gets a little more involved, as I have to start lowering my FSB and using higher multis, and of course, more voltage still with some higher temps.

I have an older stepping too - AQYHA 0346. People with the IQYHAs seem to be getting some really good overclocks at slightly lower voltages.

and since the 2500s seem to be the fast sellers, you are more likely to get a newer stepping if you order a 2500, which may mean better overclocks.
