Buddy of mine came into some money and wants me to build him a new machine, what video card would you recommend i use with a 26" LCD monitor? ATI or Nvidia doesnt matter, cost right now is up in the air, all ranges and cost will be looked at. It will be a decently high end machine for video editing and some gaming as well as TV recording.

I'm not sure , I just went nvidia myself , but they don't have tv-tuners built in. But my 6800GT smoked my X800 pro.
 
Im Just wanting to get him the best card to push that big ass monitor he wants, thats a shit load of pixels lol. If i have too Ill get him an extra tuner card, But Id rather not go Ultra or Xt, Unless I have too
 
BFG 6800GT OC would work if you're wanting to keep prices down but keep performance.
 
Yeah, Im running a Leadtek GT myself, Thanks for the help BTW, im not a nvidia nut or anything,Ive just always used there cards and just dont know that much about ATI card and wanted to get him the best for what he wants to do.
 
x800, 6800, you'll be fine either way...

get a good tuner card, check the HTPC forum, and your buddy should be good to go...
