Question with SpeedFan Program and Temperatures

For the different temperatures, isn't my CPU labeled "Core" and it says the chip is AMD K8. But, I tried overclocking my CPU and the temperature on "Core", chip "NVidia Video Card" when up also. It got to around 53 C, is that bad or what? Wanted to figure out how to get the hang of overclocking before I get in my new build.
 
I think its like mine...the Core is actually your nvidia graphics card core..wait I'm kinda lost....I think its best you post a screenshot. Usually Core stands for the cpu and since judging by your sig rig..the C2D E8400 there should be 2 "Core" temps listed on speedfan (because its dual core and signifies each cores temp) what you should do is overclock the cpu and stress test it after for about 5 mins and see which temp listed component in speedfan actually goes up. And 53'C under LOAD for a CPU overclock is not bad...but if its IDLE then you should get a better solution to your cooling.
 
Heh, sorry about the sig, I should have updated it a little later. The sig is the new build that I ordered but not yet using. Im using an AMD athlon 3200+ with a nvidia geforce 7600gt

To take a picture from your screen Press PRNTSCRN on your keyboard and then Start>Program Files> Acessories>Paint and then paste and save as PNG because the quality is the best for its small size.

What it looks like is that motherboards chipset has a built in nvidia integrated solution to the chipset. While its been overclocked the FSB (chipset) heat rises up as well as the cpu. You cleaned out the chipset heatsink ? Does it have a active mounted fan on the chipset? Whats the max temp it reaches? And also are stress testing your system under load and getting these temps or just normal IDLE temps? Also post another clear screenshot of that tab you have there and the first tab speedfan has when it loads up.
 
Mind you I have the exact thing as you now as well...Just checked. I found out the the Nvidia Video Card and Core are the same thing...the temps should be the same...but yours is different. The above post I made may apply to you...but you should really just focus on the AMD K8 "Core" temps...thats the mainthing you should care about with observation.
 
No, I really need to take apart the heatsink and clean it, maybe the main reason why it is getting a bit hot. Yes, it has an active mounted fan on the chipset. The max temp is 53C. These are idle temps.

Yes but take it apart when the computer is off. While your cleaning you could also clean out your whole pc if it is dirty...it is one common bottleneck in overclocking. Once you have the Chipset HSF removed detach the fan from HS itself if you can and clean with vacuum or air compressor..and if you have any spare tube of thermal paste lying around you clean the old paste off the chipset and HS and reapply a certain amount on it leaving it as a new one. Hope it helps. Another question whats the Motherboard model?
 
Real old, gigabyte k8 triton series. Probably why the chip name comes up as AMD K8. :rolleyes: Well, is that temperature a bit too high?

Another way to make sure your temps are accurate or false...is by going to cpuid.com and download the latest Hardware Monitor Program and post a screenshot.
 
Oh, do you mean not the fan on the CPU heatsink but rather like the other part? guess the chipset? ugh. If that is what you were talking about, it doesn't then.

Well there you go...problem solved..the 51'C belongs to the 7600gt graphics card (you should clean it coz its pretty high as well esp when its not under load) and the AMD processor is just 37'C. So basically everything is all good. And another thing by the looks of it...looks like you don't have any case fans either, except for the cpu fan. If you have space in your case and mounts for fans..you should get 1 intake fan and 1 exhaust fan at the front and exhaust at the back...this will ought to improve your cooling and a wind breeze through your components.

Off topic...btw..do you watch Bleach and Naruto?:D
 
Just have to look at my bar... haha. Yep, I've been watching Naruto. Heard Bleach is good. But ya, this old rig is just to try getting the hang of how to overclock before my new one comes in. My motor stopped on my 120mm exhaust fan and I do have the option of putting 2 intake fans on the front but I'm handing this computer over to my dad. He can pay for the fans needed. ;)
 
You should def watch Bleach v.good. You could put in 2 intake fans and maybe later on a exhaust fan...saves your dad the effort when in the future he will be making posts about it in:p

note: You should clean out your pc as well:D
 
Going to hand it to my dad and watch it burn to the ground! literally, since it will overheat so bad. But, ya, will grab an air can and start cleaning before my new build arrives most likely.
