i have one of these on the way and i am wondering for future reference if it is possible to utilize the 5.25 bays for a regular hard drive down the road - with some sort of part.

and would this adversely affect the build.

i will only have two opticals and no plans for a fan controller or other doohickey in any of the other two larger bays.

What he said. But if you absolutely need 2 more spaces, you can get some 3.5" to 5.25" adapters and screw the rails on them.
 
Of course, years ago they didn't even have 3.5" bays on most computers you used the adapters. You can pick up a set from newegg or a similar store for a few bucks

depending upon how good i set up my airflow and how my temps arei may or may not want to use the middle 3.5 drive bay for hard drives vs. air intake - if i do not i may need to utilize 1 more than the 4 provided lower 3.5 drive slots.
