when you first hookup your monitor using DVI port, does automtically go into 1680X1050 or do you have to install the driver first for that to be acheived ? i don't see that resoultion in my ATI 9800pro display properties ...

thanks,

Yeah, mine ran at 1680X1050 with my pro when I first hooked it up. Try installing the inf file that came with the monitor. The thing that did it for me was that I had my resolution locked using the old monitor instead of letting it query the monitor for the supported resolutions. There's a panel for it in the Catalyst drivers.

My ATI X600 Pro would't run it at 1680x1050 either unitl I loaded the inf file off the cd.
Pretty easy.

I never saw the 1680x1050 resolution offered on neither of the systems I use my 2005FPW with *UNTIL* i actually connected it for the first time.

You should have no worries :)
