Question Regarding Reinstalling Win XP

I am about to reformat my hardrive after almost a year not that i really need to but lately some things have been going wrong and I want a fresh start

Now my question is - In what order do you Reinstall XP

Like after you installed XP what do you install next

Chipest driver's, DirectX, Update Windows, Video card Drivers etc...

What order do you guys do it in ?

The order I've gone with for a while:

Video Drivers
Chipset drivers
Any other hardware drivers (sound, network, modem etc)
Windows update
DirectX (if XP doesn't have that version installed automatically)
Software/games/other stuff

This is the way I have done it for as long as I can remember and have never had a problem.

Depending on your system, it can change...but these are the generally accepted practices:

XP, with all service packs and security updates
Chipset drivers
DirectX9
Video drivers
rest of drivers
software

I don't quite get how some people install video drivers before DirectX9. The ATI Catalyst drivers require it.
