question regarding refresh rates on DVI LCD

so i like playing cs with VSYNC ON (its sooooo much smoother) but im getting sick of my lcd limiting the fps to 75 on my LCD. i realize theres actually really no such thing as a "refresh rate" on LCDs since they don't refresh at all, so i was wondering if setting my refresh to say 100hz will be bad for the monitor?
 
Your monitor should be smart enough to protect itself from excessively high refresh rates. The monitor probably won't display anything if the refresh is faster than what it can handle.
