I'm looking to get a new desktop for my mom since hers died a few weeks ago and saw this computer on sale at Staples for $255:

I don't have any experience with HP's so I was just wondering, how long can I expect the comp to last, assuming that it's taken care of? The price-point is great for her but I don't think it's worth it if I can expect parts to start failing after a couple of years. Thanks in advance.

Usually Dell systems have better quality parts (HP = poor quality parts; especially the PSU's) for not that much more and overall better customer service.

Regarding your specific system; maximum RAM is limited at 8GB; that point itself limits the longevity of that system. 4GB is the bare minimum right now and 8GB might be the bare minimum in 1 or 2 years.
