When a person sells you something as a retail item.
Ships you a white label/generic item.
Refuses to change the price to reflect the diffrence.
Only offers you another item for the same price as a white
label would cost new.
Is this a nutral or negative rating.

Who did that?

Yes I agree, NEG and please let us know who is doing this so others don't get screwed as well.

Y0shi (on this forum)did this.
He had or has an add for a these drives.
It is exactly like this. It is still up on the
for sale/trade area.

(8) 100GB WD1000BB 7200RPM 2MB Cache Parallel ATA drives full one year warrenty, not white label! $80 ea.

Seems clear enough. I recieved however one
Magnetic Data Technology drive. I know they are
white label WD drives. They are not however what he
advertised.

I wrote to him for an explination and here is his reply.

The drive is a WD drive, I know for a fact because I ran in it 8x100 RAID with no issues. The 3DM 3ware windows software was detailed enough that it gave me the firmware revision that was running on the drive. I have 6x100 that were WD labelled, and 2 that were not. The firmware version on the drive you have matched some of the 6x100 I had. The only reason I didn't ship you a WD labelled drive was because my RAID is arranged 7x100 and 1x100. I needed to maintain my 700GB array until its replacement arrived, so all I could ship you was the white label one. If you want to buy more drives, only one more will be white label and the rest are WD label. Rest assured, these are all the same drive despite the label difference as my 3Ware software proves.

Would you like more drives? It'll only be a few more days before I can break my main array for you.

Let me know,
Ali
PS. sorry for the mix-up, I should have explained what white-labelling is better.

I PMed a few more times with the same reply "wanna buy more drives". I told him if he sold me one WD labled for $45
shipped making a total of $130 or $65 each (the price I can
get two white labels for) I was interested. If not then no.
I thought this was fair considering I dont usualy pay for used
what I can for new and this would only be a little under new
prices. the best he would do was $65 and this would end
up costing me more than buying both drives new.
He had 127 pos, 1 nut, 5 neg reviews at the time (1 more neg now).
Considering I have no heat yet (I just buy stuff never have sold)
I thought based on this he would be a good trader.
That was the end of our pm's.

You could PM a mod in the FS/FT forum and ask how to provide negative feedback if you got a bad deal.

.....but, this isn't G[H] material, so.....
