Question regarding DP/HDMI with consoles

I currently have the Dell U2311H and would like to try using my 360 on it. My question is, is it possible to get a Male HDMI to Male DP cable that would work with the 360?

All I ever hear about is HDMI to DVI and then splicing audio with SPDIF port, and was just wondering if I could cut some corners with that type of cable? (assuming it works, as then I wouldn't need a DVI switcher box or something)

(Actually, do you even GET a HDMI -> DP cable? Or is it just DP -> HDMI?)

Monoprice has DP to HDMI cables for $9 but they will not work the other way. HDMI to DP (which is what you want to do) requires a converter box like this or this - both of which cost $150, which may not be worth it to you. Sorry, there is no way around this if you want to use your monitor's DP port.
