Question regarding Broadband speeds

So Comcast is now offering a 8mbps down / 768kbps up package. Can someone explain to me what this really means in terms of what I could expect to see in true download speeds? And would there be a huge difference between 6mbps / 384kbps etc.

In my experience if you're getting 6Mbps down you'll probably end up with downloads which average btw 600-700k, 8Mbps will probably range around 800-900k. It really depends on the price dif. and what you're doing to know if it would be worthwhile or not.
