Question regarding 7900GTX & PSU.

Just a quick question -- will the Silverstone Zeus ST65ZF be sufficient for SLI'd 7900 GTX's? Reason I ask is because it's not in the "Certified PSU for Geforce 7900GTX" list on SLIzone. It's recommended only up to the 7800. I understand the reason for this is most likely due to the quad +12V rails, but even so, will I be able to run SLI with said power supply? At least until I can buy a PC P&C 1KW... :D

Mav, I've seen the SLI certification in the specifications and on the box pictures and all, but taking what Appa said in consideration, I'm not quite sure if going with this power supply was such a wise decision now. It's going to be here in two days via Newegg, and quite frankly, that's the only thing that's worrying me at the moment. Sure, I've read a lot of reviews about it and all, and it seems like a killer power supply... but I seriously haven't heard of anyone running two 7900GTX's on it yet. So it makes me wonder... ugh.

Give me some reassurance here! :( Whaddayou say Appa, do you think it'll be feasible?

I wouldn't worry about it. That "weakest 12V line" isn't used for graphics cards, off the top of my head- more likely drives. As such, you should be fine even with 7900GTX's. If it gives you any problems (barring defects, obviously), I'll eat my hat- or my shorts, or whatever. :D

7900GTX is 89 watts, by the looks of it. In fact, the 78/512 is well over 120W! If the Zeus was SLI-ready for the 7800 series, it'll definitely handle the 7900's. I also just checked the detailed specs for the PSU, and at least one of the two PCIe connectors is fueld off the 12V3 line- I think that's 16A, which is plenty.

What about this power supply

That's just a scary PSU, even though it's just the souped-up version of the Zeus650. Quad 18A rails, totaling 60A combined! Holy... !

And - gasp! - rated at 50C! Rated for almost as much as the pcp&c 1kw, it's gonna be interesting to see where this is priced.

Thanks for the input guys, it's very much appreciated. I can sleep easy tonight. :D
I can't wait until Thursday, whee!
