Question on Wireless-G/B Adapters....

Can a wireless-G adapter pick up Wireless-b signals?

I just got the 3715-EH1 version of this notebook ...

...and it comes with a wireless-g adapter. On the website it is listed as a "Wireless-G/B"
adapter, suggesting it picks up both signals.
Everest Home Edition lists it as only a Wireless-G adapter and so does every other program and hardware listing on the computer.

I can see the wireless-b signals at my cousin's house with "wINC" but I cannot connect to it.
Is there something that I'm doing wrong?
