Question for you guys: which upgrade would speed me up more doyou think
TI4400-> 5800 FX, 256 megs etc
or
p4 1.7 ghz->2ghz.
I am currently leaning towards the video card, I may just get a nice cooler for the processor and overclock it to 2 ghz

Most likely the Video Card, but it depends on what you do with your computer. For gaming, definitely the Video. A <20% boost in CPU speed won't give you as large a perceived speed up.

Side note: Do the 5800s still have the leaf blower GPU fan?

Dude dont buy a 5800 FX. Get one of the new 5900XT's. They are less then $200 and overclock to near or faster than 5950 speeds.

I've got the Gigabyte 5900XT and it works great. I havn't had a chance to overclock my system yet though because im waiting to order some more stuff this week.

5800FX? isn't that the quintessential dissappointment of a video card (loud, slower than it should be)?
get a 5900, 5950, or 9800 pro, depending on how much you want to spend.
