We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

I need to set up 4 workstations with a server. It looks like I won't need any network cabling or anything but I'm curious which is the best out of the box Server and Computer to buy and what other materials will I need to successfully set up a server network?

Thanks in advance

with just 4 workstations and server. I would get Dell Vostro 230 desktops and Acer Easystore Home server.

Can you be a bit more specific on what the workstations will be doing? Point of sale? General office?

Sorry yes. The workstations will be doing general office tasks, mostly to use accounting and business software. I would like to get a server that can run Windows small business server 2008.

if you are looking for network more than 10 clients, I would go with Dell PowerEdge T110.

p.s. onless you are going to have less than 10 clients over the next 2 years, Home Server does everything you would need for network management onless you are joining another domain.

If you are buying them all at once, you may want to contact a vendor and see what kindof deal you can get.

Some resellers are mentioned in this thread:

You may want to send a PM to bearlevel and see what he suggests since it looks like he works for microage and does this sort of thing.

I'm finding the idea of using a home server instead of small business Server interesting. Can you use VPN on a home server?

I agree with shiro. If it's less than 10 users, go with Home Server. If and when they need more than 10, upgrade at that time.

home server supports central backups, health monitoring, file sharing, printer sharing, shadow copy, headless operations, remote access gateway (vpn) and selective data redundancy

p.s. speaking of data redundancy www.carbonite.com is great service for that purpose.
