I have a Radeon RX480 I use for gaming and everyday use and a Radeon 7850 I use just for Netflix, surfing, etc hooked up to 2 tv's in my house..

My question is, I have a Asrock X58 Extreme motherboard that has 3 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (2x16 slots(blue @ x16 mode) and 1 orange @ x4 mode..

I have the 480 in the main slot(blue).. Should I put the 7850 in the orange slot to assure that the 480 get maximum bandwidth in the blue slot since the 2 blue slots share bandwidth when 2 are use for crossfire/sli?

LMK what you think..

Thanks

If you have the 480 in a PCI Express X16 slot it should get maximum bandwidth.

So, I should put the 7850 in the orange slot and not the 2nd blue x16 slot ? Wouldn't putting the 7850 in the 2nd x16 slot split the bandwidth with the 480 to x8..

I could be wrong, but I'd imagine if there is no load of any sort on the 7850, the 480 should get whatever it needs?

outside of the gaming card (rx480) which has to be in the x16 slot the other cards doesn't matter which pci-e slots they are in.

x58 supported 2 16 lane slots directly from the northbridge; putting the second card in the second blue slot should result in both cards having 16 lanes of bandwidth.
