Hey guys,

I've researched exactly what I need to do in order to root my phone, so I think I'm set. My question is what I need to do BEFORE I go through the process...

I've recently purchased a Verizon Galaxy Nexus off of ebay. This will replace my current phone that I have registered to my account. My question is: do I need to call Verizon and set up my phone before I unlock the bootloader and root my device, or do I do it afterwards?

I ask because I know that unlocking the bootloader will re-set my phone to factory settings, so I have no idea if that actually interferes with the set-up process with Verizon. I'm a bit of a phone noob so I apologize if this is a basic question :(!

Let me know guys, thanks!

Call Verizon, activate the phone, make sure it works. Then unlock and root. If the phone is stock and all you did was add your google account to get things activated then you're not missing much after unlocking.

Just don't add the Google account, install 40 apps and then unlock. ;)

Remember also to copy your adress book, if contacts are on phone not on Google account, and backup your photos :)

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate the help!

I'm assuming that I'll have to re-sign into my Google account and everything after I unlock the bootloader, right? Also, I take it the Verizon set up of the phone is different than me signing into my Google account? Just want to be sure...

Thanks!

The Verizon setup is on their end, not yours, so you are clear to root and unlock

Unlocking the bootloader on a Galaxy Nexus does a factory reset.
