OK, been a while since I was running an ATI card on my game system so haven't paid much attention to how the clock speed functions. But I installed a new X1900XTX (couldn't resist the new lower price) and in Windows the catalyst control center shows:
Current GPU Speed: 500
Current RAM speed: 594
If I go to the ATI Overdrive page, it reads:
Graphic Processor Status:
Requested = 641
Current VPU Clock = 500
Temperature = 38 C
Graphics Memory
Requested = 774
Current Memory Clock = 594
So is this the card underclocking itself because I'm in windows 2D mode and I should expect it to clock up once I start using 3D apps?
