I have one of the original unlocked 2600K processors. I am wanting a new MB. Can I use my CPU in any of the new MB's that support I7 Procs?

I got confused because some would say 2nd gen Intel I7, or 3rd gen I7 etc.

Wanted to make sure before I committed to buying a new MB.

Z77 will support Sandy Bridge (2600k)

You will not be able to Tri-SLI or Tri Crossfire though.

I asked the same question about a month and a half ago when I upgraded my mobo from a P67A-GD65 to a Z77A-GD65

If the motherboard is lga1155, you can use your 2600k with it. The newer upcoming haswell mobo's, will be lga1150, which will not support it.

The P67a-GD65 is what I have now. How do you like your new one? Ill check that model out../

I am very pleased with the performance of the Z77A-GD65 overall.

My BIOS is quite a bit different (Unlike Kyle and company, I liked the old version once I got used to it)

Capability-wise, I'm getting good performance from my CPU using the enhanced Turbo feature so it clocks up all 4 cores to 4.6 - 4.8instead of just one or 2 when running intense games.
