I'm planning on pairing this board with a Q6700 and Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066 memory.Though it only officially supports DDR2 800 ram,I've heard that unofficially it can run 1066 ram with no problem. How true is this?

I have that board paired with a Q6700 and Patriot PC6400...I run the ram at 450 so I know it will do at least that..

Just curious why you want to go with the PC8500 ram?
Unless you already have it, any PC6400 will be more than enough with the Q6700

Agreed with Crosshairs, with 10x multi on your q6700, pc6400 is more than sufficient.

I'll go with the PC6400 then.I see the GSkill 2x2 kits recommended a lot,are they as good as Corsair?

My set is solid as well. It was by far the cheapest 2x2 1000mhz set at the time. Teh 800mhz set is pretty much identical.
