Hi guys,

I was thinking of trying a new setup lately. I would like to get some comments on the feasability/usefulness on this :)

Mobo: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R (Intel ICH10R northbridge)
SSDs: Crucial m4 64 gb x2
HDD: WD Caviar Black 640gb

I would actually put the m4s in RAID0, and create a 128gb partition on the Caviar Black for an Intel RST RAID1 array (the RAID0 array with the 128gb). Can I do this? Like RAID0 with the m4s and mirroring the whole array on the Caviar Black. Would I still get good RAID0 performance from the m4s or will mirroring the array slow them down?

I think that would be the way to make your ssd's perform like your hdd's. I say do it and post some benchmarks.

If you are wanting to raid0 your M4's, do that, then setup daily incremental/differential backups to your wd 640gb.

Yeah just setup a delayed mirror with background software. Whatever works best for you whether it's a couple hours, nightly, or whatever.
