Question on hard drives

I built myself a new system, basically installed all the programs I need. But i'm missing my pictures and music. I still have my old PC's sata hard drive, my question is, do I need to just hook it up, and i can access the files? Thanks in advance.

all you need to do is plug it into the sata port on your new pc (and power of course) and you should be able to access your data straight away.

if not you may have to initialize the disc in Disk Manager, to access right click on the 'my computer' icon and choose 'manage' this will load up 'computer management' go down to 'disk management' find your old drive from the list of devices and right-click and 'initialize'
