question on Cross Fire

no.. you have to run the same card, im pretty sure the amount of ram can be different tho

expand the item and click on the compatibility chart. You can run 1900s with 1950s but those are the only ones which "play well with others"..

oh ya do i need the ati dongle cable if i use two x1300xts? i dont think it would but ive only seen it on the higher end crossfire setups (x1900xtx)

I guess there's no dongle needed with the 1300 series, but you'd need a 1300 series CrossFire edition card if you have a 1300 series card now which you want to pair up. I think?

EDIT: I am not seeing any x1300 CF edition cards out there for sale.. but I do see the reference to them:

"multi-GPU gaming performance that works with all games by adding another X1300 Crossfire™ Edition graphics card for powerful GPU sharing"

etc.. so not sure what's up with that..


FYI - the new ATi cards 1950GT/Pro and beyond are doing away with the need for a CF edition card and are going with a bridge rather than the dongle..

crap.. one other thing.. looks like you're bound to the ATI CrossFire Xpress 1600 chipset with the 1300 series cards also.. doesn't make sense to me that it wouldn't work with newer CF ready chipsets, but it looks that way from the chart:
