I just bought a antec 550HE PSU and there are 3 non-modular connections coming right out of the PSU.
1 for the mb power
2 a (I think its a 6 or 8 pin to plug also into the mb)
3 a 4pin connector (which I think is used in older amd boards (but I am wondering can I power my graphics card with this cord instead of having to plug a seperate modular cord into it)? running a 8800gts that requires more power

also I have 5 modular slots does it matter where I plug things in and how I arrange them via the cords?

Nice PSU!

You have an ATX 24-pin or 20+4-pin cable that goes to the mobo.

You probably have both a 4-pin ATX +12V cable & a 8-pin EPS +12V cable,
sometimes this is a 4+4 splittable connector, you use what the mobo uses,
either a 4-pin or 8-pin to power the CPU.

Your PCI-E GPU connectors will be 6-pin & 8-pin and should fit without any modifications or adapters.

Good Luck,
Dave :)

ahh thanks david ... ya wasnt sure what to do with this other 4 pin wire - thought I could put it to use (forgot that my 8800 requires a 6pin connection for power).

btw really like this PSU - looks well made and sounds like it will cool nicely (keep it warm in my room at nite) and from what I understand its pretty near silent).

all my games run fine now and no problems booting up myhardware - ie I was able to boot less and less devices as time went on - didnt realize it was my PSU. And then last week I couldnt run 3d games.
