question from a new guy

ok so im very new to the whole F@H thing. been looking around and cant find this info so im wondering. iv got a single core 3.2ghz P4, a dualcore opteron 175, a quadcore 6600@3ghz and a PS3 all setup folding now for team 33 and its still says i only have 2 active cpu's folding
does it only count a cpu that has completed a set? btw the ps3 is way freakin fast at this

Yep, only processors that have turned in units.

..and SMP on a decently fast machine blows the PS3 out of the water

Max out of the PS3 is only ~900 PpD.
Max out of a Q66600 @3.00 Ghz running the SMP client ~2,500-3,000 PpD.

If I'm gaming the I use SMP Seesaw Pro to move the client off one core and lock the game on that core.
That way folding does not slow my games down.

i get an odd error if i try to use the SMP client (unable to start core) so im stuck using 4 copys of the console client on the quad (vista x64)

Don't give up so easily. I'm sure some of the users here can help you get it working correctly.

Turn UAC off before you run the install.bat file, you can turn it back on when you are done.

Why not? I have the SMP client running from Program Files on this rig and the regular console client in Program Files on another rig.

If its XP or older your fine.

If its Vista then there's an extra layer of security on programs in the "Program Files" folder that can affect the install-running of the SMP client.
