The hardware:
Shuttle SB75G2
Pentium 4 Northwood
1 gig Corsair XMS
BFG Geforce 6800 GT OC

The results:
Doom 3 runs beautifully in High Quality at 1024x768.

The question:
Even though the 250 watt power supply in the Shuttle runs my video card fine, I'm wondering if the performance would be noticibly increased if I put it on a larger power supply. I thought about experimenting with a 300 watt power supply I have laying around. What I was thinking of doing was running just the video card off of it while the rest of the computer ran off of the Shuttle's power supply. Do I risk damage to my video card?

there really shouldn't be much of a performance boost with a bigger powersupply. If there wasn't enough power to the card your shuttle will crash.

running your vid card off a second ps would be fine as long as you rigged them to turn on at the same time.

also...you should be able to play D3 at 1600x1200 HQ with that 6800ultra oc... why playing at such a low res for such a powerful card?

That's what has me baffled......at higher than 1028x764 resolutions, the game runs slower. I'm starting to wonder if lack of power is limiting the card.

This is normal. More pixels to render per frame, so it can do less frames per second. This is normal, not a power issue.

I know that the game will run slower at higher resolutions. But I was under the impression that I should be able to play at 1600x1200. That's not happening......

updated your drivers (yeah, I know that the 6800's are new, but nvidia has betas floating around ALL THE TIME)?

what do you have running in the background (virus scanner, spybot, vpn software, etc...)...kill all the extra processes and see if that makes a difference.

I don't have antivirus running in the background. Always disable that before playing. What's a good site for beta drivers? I'm currently running the 61.77's
