Why do you all fold? (Not really sure why I do myself!)

It costs you all a fair bit of money...you gain little from it personally...Stanford take all the credit...energy wasted vs. scientific knowledge gained really doesn't pay off.

OK, so I get the whole "community and competition" aspect of it, but still...

I just don't get it!

So, why do YOU fold?

I think the thread Alan linked says it better than any single post can. :)

Ok, "you are not sure why you fold", got that.

It's costing you money, got that.

You get little if any personal recognition, got that also.

Stanford/VJ gets all the credit, yup, got that one too.

In a roundabout way you are concerned it's a "Green thing" and add that you "Just don't get it".

Well, I don't get it either, why do YOU as an individual fold?

I don't care who gets the credit.
I fold within my budget (there are more $$ hobbies out there)
I want to help out humanity and to be honest myself. I'm 26, and If alzheimer's is still around when I'm older and I get it.... serves me right for not trying to help find a cure.
To many people suffer from things that we now have a chance to understand and cure. That's worth a bit of money and time in my book.
