Hey guys. I just started learning Sony Vegas Pro 8 and I have made a few "crap" projects just for learning purposes. However, there is something I cannot figure out with the manual or online help. I have made a small trailer with a mix of video game trailers and one Red Hot Chili Peppers song, the entire video is about 1:30 minutes. When I render the video and play it back, the result video from my project winds up being 4:30, which is the length of the song I added to my project.

How can I shorten the length of the entire video?

Well it makes sense since the audio element is the longest piece on the timeline. You have to shorten the audio piece to the length of the video one. If you hover the mouse over the right edge of the audio piece, the cursor should change into something where you can adjust the length.

I did adjust the length of the audio to fade out at 1:30. However, the entire project length is still 4:30. I need to readjust the length of the entire project, not just the audio.

So there are no elements after 1:30? Weird. Do you have a screengrab of timeline?

You're too zoomed in no? I can't see all tracks nor anything past 2:30.

I've never had that happen really unless there was something in the timeline. As a short term solution just for this project, just select a region and render the region. In your next projects, experiment and see if the issue still comes up.

Thanks for the input, I didn't know that you could just select a region and render only that region. That really helped! Here is my little creation, nothing special or professional really.

That's a great little video! Most things you see are very simple editing wise. You don't need to know much more to make something that satisfies the needs of most cases.

I need to upgrade my computer to handle HD.

Thanks Ian. I was just trying to get the hang of using Sony Vegas Pro and it's really not that hard. I will probably start learning the more advanced features here soon and make something else. Thanks again for your help buddy.
