Hey guys, I currently own an Antec TruePower 550W that I purchased like 2-3 years ago. I went out of town for a day and went to boot up my pc just now and it won't power:( I tried reconnecting the wires to make sure they weren't loose but no luck. I don't know how it finally gave out, or if it is indeed dead. Is there any type of reset switch on the unit that I can try? Or am I most likely sol?

If I do need a new psu any specific ones you would recommend? I currently have 4 harddrives, 2 optical drives etc. So I don't want anything that won't give sufficient enough power. I have a 420W generic psu that came with an older pc case that I have, but I really don't want to have to use that.

I was looking at the Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W Power Supply - Retail. Seems to have good ratings I am just afraid it wouldn't be enough power.

EDIT: I also own an ATI x800XT PT. Have 1 gig of ram but I plan on upgrading. One of my harddrives is a WD Raptor. I do NOT oc.

Does it make an load or squeeky noises? Have you tried re-seating all of the power connectors? the 20/24pin ATX connector to be exact. Checked the power switch in the back? Tried a new power cable?

Makes no noises at all from what I have observed. I did reseat the ATX connectors. Haven't tried a new power cable, and the actual power switch in the back I did of course check. One weird thing I didn't mention that occured before I went out of town was that after I shut my pc down via windows shutdown the keyboard lights were still on but the mobo didn't work. Then after that I turned it off and rebooted shutting it down with the switch and left.

Also if none of these suggestions work, what do you all thing about..

$61: Enermax 535W (SLI-Certified) (from DavidHammock's suggestion, thanks btw) One question though, where is it available for $61? Unless I am looking at different models with similar names, the cheapest I see it is 81 (which I don't mind paying but I want to get the best price of course).

or

OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI 600W ATX 2.2/EPS/SLI Power Supply

I would be saving a bit of money with the enermax and the wattage should be sufficient I am guessing.

Keep in mind I still want something that will be more future proof for any possible upgrades. Right now I only have an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mobo (nforce 3), but for the future who knows...

Prices change, use Google & Froogle for best current prices.

Monarch has the OCZ GXS 600W for $85 AMIR through 10-15.

I had the same psu and the same problem. Any other psu would boot my pc so I have the 700w version of that OCZ on the way :D

Go for the OCZ, the Antec is a useless pos, as it would seem this is a common problem.

Okay something weird happened now. I flipped the voltage switch on the back of my PSU, then flipped it back. The pc still wouldn't boot. I used a power cord my dad has for his dell and voila, my pc actually powered up! It would seem as my powercord was the culprit right? Well after using my dad's powercord I tried to use mine out again (the one that came with the truepower) and my pc powered up. I got to say I am really confused here. How would it miraculously start working again? Also I am a bit paranoid when it comes to these things, but is it still safe to use? I don't want to cause any fires.

From what I can notice my PSU isn't making any type of crazy noises (not sure what to look for but I think it is okay), although the fans on my computer are somewhat loud, so it is hard to tell. I also got an IRQ NOT EQUAL OR LESS error along with a windows stop error, but I don't think that was associated with the PSU, so I did a windows roll back and no other crashes yet.

Ugh sorry for all my posts guys:( Yeah so I tried to power my computer up a few hours after it powered up initially and no luck, even using both power cables:(

Maybe it is just time to get a new PSU. That is a bit disappointing as I haven't had my antec to long. I am seriously leaning towards that OCZ psu. It physically is no bigger than my antec I hope, reason being my antec sort of has a tight fight in my case (LIAN LI V COOL PC-V1000 Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case).

EDIT: I said screw it and I purchased the OCZ 600W PSU from monarch. I don't really think I should bother trying to jump my antec psu, I would rather have something that is reliable. My only concern now was if I should have went for the 700W version, there is a 25 buck rebate on that opposed to the 15 on the 600W, but I think 600W should be ample, and even future proofed. Thanks again guys, what a headache this has been! Hopefully it fits fine in my case though! The pics of it make it to look like a monster.

EDIT 2: I also used a power calculator to determine if the 600W would be enough. I did add in some random things and I think I should be fine, I was just worried that it won't be as future proof. Damn I should have ordered the 700 W version, but whatever I should be fine, I am just paranoid!
btw, you guys freakin own!
