I just ordered my X800XL PCI-E from newegg. I currently have right now P4 3.0, 1 gig of ram. Should I be able to run all the settings on high without stuttering? Also, If I should upgrade my ram, what kind should I get? This is my pcs website : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00280666
If I get just one stick (1 gig) , will it slow my performance since I have 2x512? Would it be best just to get another 2x512? And should I be able to do this for under 100 bucks via newegg? Thanks for any input fellas!

u runnin dual channel now? If not just get a gig--if ur planning to play BF2. Get more.

Get whatever your budget can afford. Worry about spending more if you were looking to OC. I picked up a gig at BB for 50 bucks. Look around, but anything around 75-100 on a gig is decent.
 
Oh yeah! Haha my fault. Battlefield 2 is the game. So is getting another 2x512 the best idea? Or can I just get one single stick of 1 g and be set? Or will it hinder performance?
 
Battlefield 2 is from what i have heard one of the few games that you actually see a noticeable performance increase with 2gigs of ram over 1 gig
 
I have an Athlon64 and an All in wonder x800xt. I found that to run games with high settings you need ram, lot's of it. I had 512megs before and I'd get way too much stuttering with highest settings at 1280x960 in Battlefield 2, Half Life 2, CS Source etc..

I added a gig of ram to my setup and now every game I play is smooth. I think you will be fine with 1 gig of ram. You can pick another gig for 129$+tax kingston value ram here in Canada. I don't overclock so this is the best bang for my buck.

reviews will show that more ram doesnt add to the FPS but it will take that awefull stutter to a minumum.
 
With a P4 buy in pairs. You want to maintain dual channel, so yes to answer your question buy 2x512 rather than 1x1024.
