Question concerning PSU

About 4 months ago my system stopped working, the PSU(#1) died. So i purchased a new PSU(#2) and the system started and posted showing a memory issue so I think the old PSU(#1) took some parts with it. I shelved the system.

So yesterday I went and purchased a new system worth of parts (e6600 7950gx2). Would i be putting my PC at risk using the PSU(#2) (that I purchased and used once when my original psu died). Or would you not risk it and use the bad looking PSU(#3).

PSU(#1) = Crappy 500w antec
PSU(#2) = 550 Antec Neo HE
PSU(#3) = Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 (UGLY wire bundle)

PSU#2 should be fine, put it all together and see how she runs.

Antec doesn't top my own personal list of great PSUs, but they are nothing to turn your nose up at either. In fact I'd be suprised if PSU#1 actually took your memory with it, more than likely it was coincidental. As I understand things modern day PSUs (worth their salt anyway) have mechanisms to prevent damage to the components they are powering should something go awry.

Thank you Blue Falcon once my last raptor gets here tomorrow I will put it together.
