Question - All modular PSU connectors the same (i.e. interchangeable)?

Probably a dumb question, that I SHOULD know, but I don't :( So I'm putting together my WHS box, and i'm 2 molex connectors short of My Rosewill 1KW PSU for my 4220 power backplane... I've got an Antec EarthWatts 500W PSU with extra modular connectors... the actual plastic Male connections are the same but the pins inside are aligned differently from the Rosewill...

Check the pic below - My question is can I use the Antec modular cable in my Rosewill PSU ? My gut says NO they will not work... but maybe, hopefully, i'm wrong ?

I guess if I can't just use it as is, i can always remove the plugs and align the antec identical to the rosewill

Some modular PSUs use custom pinouts. The only way to know for sure would be to trace the paths of the individual wires from both cables and make sure that they all correspond to the same pins on both ends. However, from looking at your picture, I can see that the pinouts are different, so you should not use the cables with different PSUs.
 
No, you can't use as is unless you find out that the "empty" pins on the new power supply are active. In any case, this looks like a molex cable, so I'd check which pin on one end of the cable maps to which one on the other side with a continuity tester (or multimeter) and then re-align the pins.
 
I'll take pictures of the wires and re-arrange the pins on the Antec to match the Rosewill - In theory this should work ? Yellow to Yellow, Red to Red, Black to Black, etc... assuming I map the Antec identical to the Rosewill
 
If you rearrange the pins properly then it will work. Just make sure you get it right so you don't accidentally release the magic smoke ;).
 
I've been working on removing the pins for the last hour - any advice on an easy way to remove/release them ?
