question about x99m gaming 5 (not sure if this belongs in cpu's or motherboards)

hello all, im planning a small core monster so MATX (hence the motherboard) but with a 12 core 24 thread xeon E5-2670-V3, now since i have to keep the price somewhat low im planning on using an ES xeon, now my question is this: since the board does indeed support the cpu but since im new to looking at ES cpus im not sure if that means it will work guaranteed or not and if someone could shed some light on this id be more than happy, many thanks in advanced
