I just bought a Linksys WSB24 and connected it to my Linksys WRT54GL and signal definately improved around the house. However, overall connection speed has dropped. When I disconnected the signal booster, internet went back to normal again:

w/o signal booster

with signal booster speed is around 8 mb down and same up

Is this normal? thanks

yes wds cuts the speed, 1/2 the radio to recieve 1/2 to rebroadcast

awwwww damnit... any other way to boost wifi signal without losing speed?

He is saying the Linksys WSB24 is B only which absolutely will cut your speed. AND wds does cut your speed in half. Wireless is half duplex, meaning it can only send or receive a signal at any given time, not both. The best way to repeat a signal is get 2 wrt54gl's, flash OpenWRT, use one to receive the signal, and one to resend the wireless signal. HOWEVER this will NOT allow seamless roaming like wds. If you are stuck on wanting to use wds, upgrade to buffalo N routers (with official buffalo dd-wrt) and setup wds on those. Newegg has the WHR-HP-GN for $41. I have had this router since release, and it has proven pretty stable.
