I am using an ASUS Sabertooth motherboard with 16GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance (2x8gb). I was just wondering if I added in 2x8gb in as well Ripjaw X (same 1600 mhz) if you think it would pick it up as 32gb or would there be a conflict due to different brand or something? :confused:

The only significant drawback is that the XMP profiles might not match one another. This means that selecting XMP in the memory configuration might not set the memory timings to either vendor's rated specifications - but instead might default to DDR3-1333 speed with extremely loose timings (much looser than if XMP wasn't used). In other words, running them at JEDEC settings would work, but then enabling XMP might produce unpredictable results.
 
I would just make sure they both run at the same voltage, then you should be fine
 
Depends on how similar the specs are between the brands: Voltage, timings, that sorta thing. The model CPU could matter as well, which I'm assuming you are referring to an Intel version Sabertooth (you should tell us all that sorta thing when you post: CPU, Motherboard, Operating system [be specific ie: Win 7 Ultimate x64]).

It's sometimes a real toss-up. I can't really speculate on larger capacity DIMMs, but I've mix-and-matched with no problems, even different capacities. I took a very old tighter-timing OCZ Reaper 2x2GB 1600MHz 7-7-7 @ 1.9V and paired it with a much newer Kingmax 2x2GB 2133MHz 10-10-10 @ 1.55V, with zero problems (I'm on AMD). My pairing is a much more dangerous one of course, since most modern modules are <1.65V and might not even be rated to run over 1.8V. The key, performance wise, is finding what the lowest timings the one kit will run at (if they are different) and running them both at that. Which keep in mind it isn't just the primary timings, either, you'll need to match them all up (including sub-timings). Even if you don't, they should run just fine. I even ran them cross-paired, where each channel had a stick from each kit, to sorta make it more balanced heh Don't remember if there were any gains from it, but there was no negatives. :p
