Hi!
I tried to search the forum and unfortunately I only found some partial answers about what is bothering me.
So here is my question:
A) Let's say that I create a RAID5 unit with 4x4TB hdd. I now make the volume dynamic and thus in my OS (windows) I now have a 12TB dynamic volume which I see it through the OS as a single 12TB drive.
B)I then proceed to encrypt the whole volume with truecrypt 7.1.a. Now everytime I restart the computer I initially have a 12TB unformated disk volume (because it is now encrypted and the OS can't read it). I open truecrypt and then select my 12TB partition/device.
C)Now let's say that I want to expand my volume from 4x4TB to 5x4TB hdd. How do I do it without losing the information that already exists in my encrypted volume and still ending up with an encrypted volume? Is it possible to use truecrypt in this kind of way?
Can a RAID volume be expanded or/and migrated while using truecrypt ? Or once you encrypt a volume you cannot do anything more ?
Is the extcv of any help ?
I am asking because I am planing to buy a new RAID6 card (probably adaptec) and build a big volume >20TB. But I would like to have the contents encrypted.
I would be extremely thankful if any of you who has build and expanded arrays could give me some information.
P.S. I hope I have explained my question relatively clearly. If you think it does not make much sense, I will gladly try to explain it better.
