Ok here is my issue im Laid off as of Yesturday and almost broke so someone on the forums decided they wanted to Help me out but on the other hand someone offered me a great cooler at a low price what would you do

1. COOLER MASTER RR-H101-22FK-RA 80mm Long life sleeve bearing CPU Cooler: Absolutely Free
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...103075&cm_re=hyper_101-_-35-103-075-_-Product

2. Hyper 212+: $20.00 shipped

Now here is why I need a cooler. I got a new CPU and it came with a stock cooler. The stock cooler is Trash I cannot get it to keep my Idle Temps Under 51 C no matter what I do.

If you arent going to overclock at all would you fork out the 20 bucks or take a Free Cooler.

im a little worried that the stock cooler wont keep your cpu under 51 at idle, but if you think the free one will keep it stable even at load then go for it. no need to spend money on a cpu cooler if you can get a free one.

i just went out today and bought some Antec Silver 5 thermal compound for the stock cooler to see if it will help. the stock came with an attached thermal pad wich will not keep low temps at all. I went next door to this pc company and all he had was pads so i tryed one of his it did drop the temps alittle but not much.

im going to give this new thermal a shot here in a few minutes and see what I end up with.

This is why im asking do you think the Free cooler with a 80mm fan will help at all or should I just buckle down and grab the hyper 212. I want my cpu to have low temps & ive heard many many good things about the hyper 212 and not the cooler master RR

Go with the 212+. I've used it on a couple of builds including one of mine. I have a Phenom II X4 810 oc'ed to 3.2 and the highest temp I've seen after and hour or so of gaming is 58 C.

I have a pair of the Hyper 101s (the free link)

They're nothing special. Significantly better than the factory ones, but not in the same league as a big 120mm tower.

I had temps in the range of 35C idle, 45C full load (estimating, based on BIOS temp readings and Core Temp software) or so with a Hyper 101 on my 130w TDP P2X6, and nothing spectacular in terms of case airflow.

I replaced it with a Gelid Tranquillo. Dropped temperatures by about 7C past the Hyper 101, and was noticeably quieter while doing it.

If money's tight, though, the Hyper 101 does a much better job than the stock cooler.

Free is free, when you get a steady cash flow going you could get a more capable cooler. The Hyper 212+ is pretty awesome for the money but that's not your main concern right now!!

I saw two Corsair H50's on here for $50 and when you get back on your feet, that's what I'd recommend.

ok here is an update. with using he stock cooler with the new Thermal im getting the same temps 51/52 Idle. Ive noticed that the fan that came with the cooler Really doesnt work. it spins n shit but I feel almost no Air at all. The CPU fan is spinning at 3k right now.

Im going to jump on the hyper 212 and get it over with my sister gave me 20 buck to get it so i think it will be a much better option in the long run. Im concerned right now tho for my CPU running this hot. What is the max temps I need to watch for before I fry my Rig. Will it be ok at 52c for a couple days?

I can prolly get a desk fan and point it inside the case until then also

exactly. i know how it feels to be dead broke, and even that free heat sink is loads better than what youve been using. and make sure to google how to apply thermal paste properly. or find a youtube video. if youre doing it wrong it can really mess stuff up.

and you should be ok up to 75C so nothing to worry about.

thanks guys i appreciate the kind words. im going to grab the free cooler just so I can use the 20 bucks for Food.

I ended up buying off a user who lives about an hor from me a Corsair A50 for 25 shipped. I made alittle cash by selling a extra Tire I had for my car so it worked out alittle.
