Question about the HighPoint RocketRAID 2220

Ok, so I'm putting together a file server to centralise the media that is now stored all over my network. I already ordered A coolermaster ctm stacker for the case, and I have a total of 6 200gb drives on hand for storage. 2 of those drives are currently in a raid 0 in my computer, and the data has to be moved to the new file server before I can take them out. So, I'm looking at setting up the system with the 4 drives which are new in raid 5, and then moving the data off the 2 that are in use, and then adding those 2 drives to the array using OCE. Currently the card I'm looking at is the HighPoint RocketRAID 2220. The reasons I like it are that it supports OCE, it has 8 channels, and it supports the bridging of multiple raid cards to expand capacity beyon 8 drives. At this point I don't want to have to do this data moving stuff again any time soon, so I am trying to maintain the ability to expand the array to pretty darn huge in the future as it becomes necessary. I understand that the highpoing is sort of software raid, but the machine is going to be dedicated only to serving files, so I think it will keep up with the 100MBit line just fine. My questions are:

1. All my drives are IDE. I feel like at this point buying a IDE raid card would not be in my best interests in terms of expanding the array with more drives in the future. I have no problem using the sata to IDE converters, or any performance hit associated with that, but I am worried about compatibility. Will the converters/drives actually work with the raid card?

2. I have a Northwood 1.8A that will be powering the system, but I am thinking about buying a new motherboard, and since the highpoint is PCI-X I figure it might as well have PCI-X support. Any recomendations for motherboards?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Thbis card is tops on my list for price and features adn I'm seriously looking at it when I jump. Let us know how it works for you and your experience. They have a new card out that is a 12 port card the 2240.
