Question about the DDC pump

Santa just stopped by and look what he brought me !!! :D



My question is can i hook all the wires of the pump to the three pin plug
then hook it to my L.I.S 2 Premium Auto Fan Control so i can control the flow rate and 3 Delta AFB1212VHE 120 fans or is it too much for it ? :confused:
 
i don't know the ratings on that particular controller, however the pump is probably more than it can handle the pump uses 18 watts, and many fan controllers peak out at 10 watts.

the fans: one or two on each channel should be fine. more than that? consult your fan controller's owner's manual. each of those fans has a nominal input power of 7.2 watts, meaning that you will probably have to run each on it's own channel.

in summary, check to see how much output your controller can deal with on each channel, as you now konw what each part sucks up.
 
IIRC the LIS is rated at 10W per channel. I do not recommend hooking the pump to the (any for that matter) fan controller. Why would you want to REDUCE the pump speed? It is a very quiet pump. You could hook the 3 prong to the LIS as it is, it is only for RPM monitoring I believe.
 
That pumps speed is plenty alright at regular voltage, no need for adjustments.

However, 1/2" mod it and your in for some fun =D.

i don't exactly know how, but some people say that they can hear 22 db fan and pump noise. i can't myself, but some people say that they do. given that he has a triple rad, i would tend to think that he is reasonably noise sensitive, even though he has loud fans on there.

live with a delta FFB0912EHE for a year or so, and everything gets more quiet. it's not a comparative thing either: it's hearing loss.
 
Not possible to be hearing loss... 120dB is what you'd have to live with in order to suffer hearing loss.

that's BS mate: 120 db is the threshold for instant damage. you can also get hearing loss from long term exposure to much lower noise levels than that.

i believe that the guideline in industry is something around 70 db, for 8 hrs daily. i was working in an environment up around that level with occastional high pressure blowout shocks when tanks failed the pressure test next door. if you also sleep with loud noise levels (55 db in the case of the fan i was using), that also has some bearing on it.

According to the spec, the rated current is 0.6A. The current, 0.90A shown on the label should be max. measured current when fan is connecting to power up to 13.2V operating voltage range. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

YOu should be fine. The .9 amp is probably the max value the fan will draw at startup, and usually is not as high as claimed, they overrate this generally to cover themselves. Even if the fan were to draw .9a, it would be for a millisecond at startup but I hightly doubt it will draw that much.
 
I found a pic of the circuit brd for you LIS-2. (http://www.vlsys.co.kr/English/product_lis2blue.php) (use the 3D view)
Note the 8 (TO-92 body) transistors under the connectors for the fans.
I do not have a schematic, but I would think that the transitors closest to the fan connectors would be the drivers.
If you slip (friction fit) TO92 heatsinks on them, and assuming you have some airflow around the unit. I would think that would prevent driver failure even if your fans are operating close to the unit rated spec (Just like CPU cooling, only smaller) :)
