Question about the Antec True 380

probably

somewhere around 2C :p

its rated at 18A, assume that is a relatively accurate figure
you should probably even decrease its some for your temperature
capacity drops as temperature increases, Antecs test temperature and that supplies actual derating curve isnt known (at least to us end users)

thats not to say it might not do 28A for awhile, but overloading a supply is a good way to kill it (and possibly other components)
peak ratings are only supposed to be for fraction of a second

It should be because the 350W SmartPower is rated for 21A @ +12V. I don't think that Antec has updated its website to reflect the higher amp numbers for the newer versions of its PSUs, even though they came out at least six months ago.

The TRUE 380 that cam ewith my Sonata case says 24A on the PSU itself. It's an updated model with SATA connectors and powers my NF2 w/ 9800 Pro like a champ.

I just picked one up and installed it today...24A on the 12V rail confirmed.

All Antec Truepowers had the current rating on their 12V rails increased a little while ago:

True330 : 17A-22A
True380 : 18A-24A
True430: 20A-26A
True480: 22A-28A
True550: 24A-30A

Truepowers are a pretty old series of PSU's, so I guess Antec decided that it was about time to bring them up to speed with current power requirements.

BTW, has anybody checked out the new Truepower 2.0 series?
