Does anyone know whether or not the A8N-SLI supports Dual Core processors of whether it will be able to with a fireware upgrade? I've already bought the thing so it doesn't much matter at this point just more asking out of curiosity. Thanks.

Yes, as of right now I heard its a simple cpu change, Maybe a Bios Update. :p

Ummm....I don't think so. I remember reading a while back that there is a whole new chipset needed for the new dual core processors. They do use LGA 775 socket as of now, but they use a whole new chipset. I may be wrong, but im pretty sure im right.

The A8N-SLI is a socket 939 board. It's AMD64, not Intel.

Firewire upgrade? :p

Firmware upgrade, as in a bios flash makes more sense. ;)

Just teasing, not flaming. :)

Anyway, I know I read that current Socket 940 boards will take dual core. Haven't seen where 939 will, but I would assume that they would, the chipsets are similar enough anyway.

AMD has said that their new dual core CPU's "should" work in existing 939 mobo's (with possible BIOS updates).

Intel has said you need a brand-spanking-new LGA 775 board.
