question about spacers on radiators...

So i'm reading that a fan placed against a radiator would work better with a spacer in between when pushing air through the radiator...

but would that also apply for a pull system? ... where the fan is pulling air through the radiator? would i get better radiator performance if it was rad->spacer->fan in a pull configuration?
 
I think you would do better...

rad>shroud>fan in a pull configuration.

ummm... isn't that what i said?

or are you pointing out that i should use a 'shroud' in lieu of a 'spacer'?

one thing i don't get about a shroud in pull configuration is that the fan will suck air from the shroud's sides and not through the radiator since there'll be more resistance through the radiator... no?
 
The idea of a shroud is that it forms an air tight (or as close as possible to air tight) connection between the rad and the fan while also providing a standoff distance, so air must be pulled through the rad and the dead spot is eliminated. It sounds like you are a little confused, but a shroud is totally solid, so air cannot pass through it.
 
ahh - I'm looking for a relatively airtight spacer....so yea - shroud.

i guess the radbox by swiftech confused me cuz that thing's by no means airtight...
