if i were to buy a soundblaster audigy 2 zs could i run it on a asus a7v600 mobo, which has onboard sound on it now? :eek:
 
yes. if it's got a pci slot then yes.

just be sure and turn off the onboard sound in the bios.
 
You don't even need to disable the onboard audio ... they will play very nice together.
 
what all do i need to disable in my BIOS, AC97 sound obviously but do i need to disable the game controller and the MIDI too? just wondering so when i get the new sound card in about a week

you don't need to disable anything but you can get rid of whatever you want ;)
