Is there any use for them as a consumer? I know my HP 2740p can use one, but then again the 2740p isnt exactly a "consumer" focused machine......just got to thinking today that it may be a good idea since i use it mainly on campus (relativley large Uni...), but no idea if its a good idea....

anyone have some insight into if it would be a good idea to get one from teh security stand point i'm not 100% what i could add...

Smart Cards are generally used for authentication and encryption in large organizations. As a single user on a single machine I doubt there would be any real benefit for you.

K, good to know, was just curious...

would it be a way to lock windows if i had to leave my laptop for a min or two? (so friends cant try fucking with it)....thats more of just a question
