My 2 year old daughter recently dropped my laptop onto the floor from the table. It's about a 2 foot drop onto carpet.

Naturally the system started giving me problems shortly after. I removed the hard drive and began testing it in an external enclosure that I have.

I used SeaTools for a few tests and I'm confounded by the results.

The drive failed the "Short Self Test" and the program recommended that I run the "long generic test" in order to repair the drive. I ran that test but the drive passed it (seemingly with no repairs required).

I've run a few additional tests and attempted to repair the drive but I haven't had any luck yet. I'm not concerned with data but I would like to get the system running again without having to purchase a new drive.
